May 2022 Task Force Meeting Notes

Members present: Amy Falcon, Debbie Snapp, Juan Baez, Christa Roy, Dawn Trent, Larissa Schneweis, Ethel Schneweis, Richard Falcon and Cindy Jacobs.
 
Members present by phone: None.
 
Call to order and approve agenda: Amy Falcon.
 
Review and Approval of Minutes: The March minutes were  reviewed and approved.
 
Fiscal agent Financial Report: The financial report was reviewed.
 
Agenda Item 1: Public Awareness: Amy reported on the advertising that continues to be in place and renewals that will be completed. Amy advised that the task force had a booth at the Senior Expo again this year.
 
Agenda Item 2: Membership: There are no new members at this time. Amy had recruitment packets available for task force members to take with them.
 
Agenda Item 3: Education: Nothing to report.
 
Agenda Item 4: Data Collection: Nothing to report.
 
Agenda Item 5: KDADS update: Juan gave the following KDADS update:
  • The early bird deadline for the Midwest Conference is coming up on May 20th. The task forces are allowed to send more attendees than usual due to it being virtual. If interested, please register as soon possible.
  • The early bird deadline for the National Conference Digital Symposium and live conference is March 23rd. The task forces are allowed to send up to two people for the in-person conference.
  • The National Council on Problem Gambling is working on a plan to improve their helpline services. Part of the plan includes using the 1-800-GAMBLER helpline from New Jersey as the national number. The calls can be routed to individual states. More to come.

Old Business: Amy facilitated a discussion about the upcoming conferences. Cindy Jacobs is registered for the Midwest Conference and there are several slots open for anyone who would like to attend. Cindy Jacobs and Amy Falcon will be attending the National Conference in Boston in July this year.  
 
New Business: The task force spent some time saying good bye to Juan Baez and wishing him well as his last day with KDADS is tomorrow.
